Real Madrid ‘eye’ Mohamed Salah alternative amid Liverpool ‘deal agreed’ claims

La Liga giants Real Madrid are hunting a replacement for Gareth Bale ahead of the Wales international’s expected departure at the end ofthe season.

Liverpool superstar Salah has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but Anfield bosses are reportedly asking for a fee in excess of £176m (€200m).

According to El Gol Digital, who are renowned for making outlandish transfer claims, Real Madrid are now looking at cheaper options.

The Spanish publication claim that Lyon forward Fekir has emerged as a potential target because he fits the profile.

But Real Madrid transfer fixer Florentino Perez will have to get a move on to secure his signature.

Reports in France over the weekend suggested that Liverpool have agreed a £62m deal to sign Fekir, 24.

AHMED BAHAA is an engineer based in Giza, Egypt, but he is the spitting image of Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah.

However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp poured cold water on the claims in the wake of his side’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

He said: “During the game we agreed a deal? I would be surprised about that.”

Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas has denied that Fekir is on his way to Anfield.

”We have had no contact with Liverpool today,” he said. “Nabil Fekir is here.

“We hope to keep him and have him playing the Champions League with us next year.”

Lyon released Fekir at the age of 14 before re-signing him four years later.

The 10-cap France international has scored 56 goals and provided 36 assists in 150 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

He is enjoying a prolific season for Lyon, netting 22 times in 37 games.

El Gol Digital’s report will come as a boost for Liverpool bosses, who are eager to keep Salah on their books.

He is under contract until the summer of 2022 and is set to be rewarded with a double-your-money deal to fend off interest.

Salah has scored 43 goals in an incredible maiden season at Anfield but Liverpool legend John Barnes believes he has to continue delivering the goods next season if he is to become an Anfield legend.

“He’s been there less than a year,” Barnes exclusively told Starsport.

“If he scores no goals next season and doesn’t do anything he isn’t going to rank anywhere.

“In terms of the start he’s actually had, it’s the best start probably of any Liverpool player.”
