The Chelsea winger has long been a target of Real’s and with the Blues in a precarious position a better chance may not happen again.
The former Premier League champions have endured an abysmal title defence and are struggling to make the top four.
Despite their weekend win over Liverpool, results are still out of their hands and it is likely they will play Europa League football next season.
Hazard is a player that craves Champions League football, indeed joining Chelsea simply because of their monumental European win in 2012.
And Zidane is a massive fan of the Belgium international, and vice versa.
But the French manager has been frustrated by the lack of progress made on a deal, according to Don Balon.
There have been endless rumours and the occasional flirt but talks have not been held between the clubs.
Reports earlier in the year suggested that as Hazard’s form tailed off, the less interested Real chiefs became.
But Zidane has laid down the law on his bosses, according to Don Balon, by demanding Hazard’s signature or else his own resignation.
It is understood that Perez would rather sign Neymar off Paris St-Germain.
But Zidane is not a fan of the Brazilian because of the baggage that comes along with him.
He prefers Hazard, who is solely concentrated on football without any controversy.
And as for the 27-year-old, he has given nothing away when it comes to his future.
“I’m doing good things here. I’m happy here. Things can move, or they may not move. We’ll see,” he said.
