Governors elected on the basis of the People’s Democratic Party program have responded to a claim by Yahaya Bello, Governor of Kogi State, that 10 of them are preparing to go to the All Progressive Congress.
In a statement on Saturday by the Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, C.I.D. Maduabum, the Bello State Executive warned to focus on providing good governance to the people of Kogi.
PDP governors said: “This statement does not deserve an answer, but the fact that it could demoralize PDP members and Nigerians who are unaware of the facts.
“It is obvious that this is a diversionary tactic to support the declining morale of APC members who deplore the loss of another governor, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, to the PDP, which is due to the chaos and anarchy currently prevailing in the APC after the mismanagement of their affairs even admitted by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
“The governors of the PDP are very focused on teaching good governance and the benefits of democracy to their respective states and are working tirelessly to strengthen and reposition the party.
“There is no attraction whatsoever for a PDP member not to speak of a PDP governor who joins the APC, a crisis-ridden party that does not even have elected leadership, as provided for in Section 223 of the 1999 Constitution, which explicitly requires that the executive committee of every political party in Nigeria be democratically elected.
