The Police of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have revealed how they arrested the Nigerian celebrity of Instagram, Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi.
In a video posted on their official Twitter handout on Thursday, Middle East police said a special team had been following the suspect and his gang’s activities in social media for about four months.
The police revealed that upon the arrest of Hushpuppi and 12 other members of his crew, they discovered that the gang had committed fraud involving 1.6 billion dirhams (N168 billion).
No less than 1,926,400 people from different parts of the world are said to have fallen victim to the suspects as well.
According to the police, 13 luxury cars with an estimated value of 35 million Dirham (3.7 billion Naira) were recovered from the house where they were arrested.
According to Dubai Police, the operation that led to the arrests was called “Fox Hunt 2”.
While footage of the operation was being played back, one narrator said: “In less than four months, Dubai police managed to solve the new operation called “Fox Hunt 2”, in which 12 other gang members were also arrested.
“Six raids were carried out simultaneously while the suspects slept in their Dubai residences. After months of investigation and hours of monitoring the gang’s reports in the social media, a team of highly qualified Dubai police officers were able to confirm the gang’s whereabouts and their fraudulent activities.
