The government of Jigawa State has opened interstate traffic and ordered the immediate dismantling of all security checkpoints at its border.
Governor Badaru Abubakar made the announcement on Saturday when he informed journalists at the Dutse government house.
He said the state currently has only one patient with an active case in the isolation centre.
He said that this occurred after the release of seven COVID-19 patients from the isolation center after they had fully recovered.
NewsDesk.ng reported that the Jigawa state government has closed all its COVID-19 isolation centers in the state.
However, the governor noted that the state’s COVID-19 response strategy continues to produce results.
“As we ease lockdown, lift ban on weekly market days and allow interstate travel, it is also necessary to disband the security posts at our borders with immediate effect.
” Their expertise would be deployed if need arises as we continue this arduous journey against the COVID-19 pandemic in the state ”
Badaru, therefore, expressed dismay on the manner at which people violate public safety measures.
He said the state will not hesitate to deal swiftly and decisively with erring individuals.
