Jonathan Visits Chieftains of ADC After Caucus Meeting in Abuja

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday night visited African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman David Mark, fueling fresh speculation about his possible return to the presidential race.
The meeting came shortly after the ADC held its inaugural National Caucus meeting in Abuja, formally adopting the party as its political platform.

Jonathan, who led Nigeria until his 2015 loss to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, remains eligible for one more term if he decides to contest and wins in 2027.

Reports said some members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been urging him to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
While the purpose of the visit was not disclosed, Jonathan and Mark share a long-standing political history.
Mark, a former Senate President, was instrumental in the “doctrine of necessity” that allowed Jonathan to assume the presidency during the constitutional crisis following President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s illness.
