Fire Outbreak Affects Bank Branch on Lagos Island

Fire has gutted a commercial bank branch on Broad Street in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
The fire outbreak at the bank was confirmed by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
The service, in a statement shared on X, said its operatives are currently battling the inferno.

Olajide disclosed that a distress call was received at about 1:38 p.m., noting that Fire crews from Ebute Elefun Fire Station and Sari Iganmu Fire Station responded.

Olajide said the fire emanated from the inverter room located in the basement of the six-storey building, adding that smoke spread across multiple floors and engulfed the structure.
“Evacuation of occupants is in progress, while firefighting operations have been concluded, dousing the earlier panic before the arrival of the first responders,” he stated.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and, as of press time, no casualties have been reported.
