Sudan Defeat Nigeria 4-0

Sudan cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Nigeria in their African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D clash on Tuesday at the Jamhuri Stadium, Morogoro, Tanzania.

The match, which kicked off at 6:00 p.m. Nigerian time, saw Sudan take control early when Nigeria’s Leonard Ngenge turned the ball into his own net in the 25th minute.

Walieldin Khidir doubled the lead from the penalty spot just before half-time.

In the second half, Abdelrazig Omer Yagoub struck twice in quick succession — in the 68th and 71st minutes — to seal an emphatic win.

Nigeria, who were already under pressure after losing 1-0 to Senegal in their opener, failed to breach Sudan’s organised defence despite several second-half attempts.

Sudan’s slick attacking play and cohesive teamwork kept the Super Eagles on the back foot throughout the game.

The result lifts Sudan to the top of Group D with four points, edging Senegal (also on four points) on goal difference.

Congo sit third with two points, while Nigeria remain bottom with no points from two games.

Nigeria must now beat Congo in their final group match on August 19 to have any hope of progressing.

Sudan, meanwhile, will look to maintain their fine form in their next fixture.
