Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan To Face Defamation Charges

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled June 19, 2025, for the arraignment of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on alleged defamation charges.

The case, filed by the federal government, stems from statements she reportedly made against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

The arraignment was initially set for June 3 but was postponed due to procedural delays. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has maintained her innocence and expressed confidence that justice will prevail.

Meanwhile, several civic groups have raised concerns about the case, questioning why a fugitive is allegedly being protected from arrest while playing a role in prosecuting a sitting senator. The groups have called on the Attorney General and the Inspector General of Police to provide clarity on the matter.

The court is set to hear the case on June 19, 2025, where Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will face the defamation charges.

The outcome of the case will be closely watched by the public and could have implications for the senator and the individuals involved.
