Court Jails 3 TikTokers For Posting Indecent Content

A Kano Magistrate Court has sentenced three social media influencers to one year and one month in prison each for posting indecent content on TikTok.

The convicted individuals—Sumayya Muhammad, Usman Majidadi, and Usman Ibrahim Kalar Kudi—were arraigned by the Kano State Censorship Board on charges of conspiracy, sharing inappropriate content, and posting photos deemed offensive to public morals.

The defendants pleaded guilty to all charges before Magistrate Halima Wali of Court No. 7, sitting at Norman’s Land.

Each was sentenced to four months for conspiracy, with an option of a ₦50,000 fine; six months or a ₦50,000 fine for posting indecent videos; and three months or a ₦70,000 fine for wasting the court’s time.

The ruling highlights ongoing efforts by the Kano State government to regulate online content and uphold public decency standards.
