Protesters Block Oriental Energy HQ Over Alleged Contract Breach

The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR) led a protest at Oriental Energy Resources Limited (OERL) headquarters in Lagos on Monday.

The protesters, from Effiat/Mbo communities in Akwa Ibom State, alleged repeated breaches of contractual agreements by OERL.

Carrying placards demanding justice, the protesters barricaded the oil company’s premises.

Community leaders claimed OERL has exploited and disrespected their communities despite previous agreements.

CDHR chairmen addressed the protesters, calling on the company management to respond to the allegations. Comrade Ndifreke Afangideh highlighted the communities’ grievances.
