The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced Folake Adeoti and Modupe Adewuyi to one year imprisonment each for hawking naira notes.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned them on separate one-count charges for illegal hawking of naira notes.
Adeoti was accused of hawking N3,850,000 on March 21, 2025, in Ikeja, Lagos. Both defendants pleaded guilty, prompting the prosecution to present their confessional statements and recovered money as evidence.

The court subsequently convicted and sentenced them to one year imprisonment each for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria Act.
