The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old ex-convict, Ndubuisi Udatu, a Malaysian returnee, with 2.7 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in two music speakers. The suspect was intercepted at an NDLEA checkpoint in Namtari, Adamawa State, on April 7, 2025, while traveling in a commercial bus.
According to NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect had served a prison term in Malaysia for a similar offense and had returned to Nigeria to continue his illicit activities. The agency recovered four parcels of methamphetamine, weighing 2.700 kilograms, hidden in the music speakers, as well as N22,300 in cash.
The suspect allegedly intended to distribute the drugs in Yola, Mubi, and across the border into Cameroon. The NDLEA’s successful operation highlights their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.
