Barcelona Cruise Past Osasuna To Extend LaLiga Lead

Barcelona secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Osasuna at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, moving three points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga.

Despite resting key attackers Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, the Catalan giants dominated from start to finish, with Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo finding the net before Lewandowski added a late third.

Torres opened the scoring in the 11th minute, tapping home Alejandro Balde’s low cross to finish off a well-worked team move.

Olmo doubled the lead from the penalty spot 10 minutes later after being fouled in the box. His initial effort was saved, but a retake was ordered due to encroachment, and he made no mistake the second time.

Lewandowski, introduced in the 70th minute, sealed the win with a close-range header in the 77th minute his 23rd goal of the season.

Barcelona enjoyed 78% possession in the first half, with Osasuna failing to register a single shot on goal.

The victory extends Barca’s unbeaten run to 19 matches in all competitions.

They remain the only team in Europe’s top-five leagues yet to lose in 2025.

Barcelona now sit at 63 points from 28 games, with Real Madrid (60) and Atlético Madrid (56) trailing behind.

The fixture, originally postponed from March 8 following the passing of Barcelona’s club doctor Carles Minarro Garcia, was rescheduled despite manager Hansi Flick’s preference for a later date due to players returning from international duty.

With seven matches in the next 20 days across LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, Barcelona’s depth will be tested in the title race.

Torres summed up the team’s mentality post-match: “Every game is a final now. We got the job done and move forward.”
