The Lagos State Government has put suspected hoodlums arrested along the Oshodi flyover and Airport Road pedestrian bridge to work as part of a community service initiative.
In a post shared on X, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, revealed that the individuals were seen clearing bushes and removing dirt along the Oshodi-Mile 2 road under the supervision of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) officials.
According to Wahab, the suspects were apprehended for constituting a nuisance in the area. However, the initiative is not just about enforcement but also rehabilitation.
“Miscreants apprehended for constituting a nuisance on Oshodi Flyover and the pedestrian bridge along Airport Road are now serving community service clearing bushes and removing dirt from the area.”
“We will continue to keep our commitment to not just enforcement but also rehabilitation, ensuring a cleaner and more orderly Lagos for all,” he wrote.
The move underscores the state government’s commitment to environmental sanitation and social reintegration while maintaining order in public spaces.
