Super Eagles Head Coach, Eric Chelle, has expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chelle lamented his team’s inability to capitalize on goal-scoring opportunities, particularly in the first half.
“I expected us to score early and win the match. We played well in the first 45 minutes, but we made some mistakes, and Zimbabwe took advantage to equalize in the final minutes,” Chelle said.
Despite the setback, the coach assured Nigerian fans that the team would analyze the match and improve its strategies for upcoming qualifiers.
On the opposing side, Zimbabwe’s head coach, Michael Nees, praised his team’s resilience in securing a crucial away point, further complicating Nigeria’s qualification campaign.
The Super Eagles now face an uphill battle in their quest for a spot in the 2026 World Cup, with fans hoping for a stronger performance in their remaining fixtures.
