Judge Steps Down From Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Case After Akpabio’s Petition

Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has withdrawn from the case involving suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The judge made the decision on Tuesday, following a petition from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who questioned his impartiality.

Justice Egwuatu had previously issued an interim order halting the Senate’s disciplinary actions against Akpoti-Uduaghan. However, despite the ruling, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions proceeded with its hearing and suspended her for six months.

Following Akpabio’s petition, Justice Egwuatu announced in court that he would return the case file to the Chief Judge for reassignment.
