FG Orders Probe Into Kogi Prison Break, Vows To Recapture Fleeing Inmates

The Federal Government has launched an investigation into the recent escape of inmates from the Koton Karfe Correctional Facility in Kogi State.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, described the incident as unfortunate and assured that all fleeing inmates would be recaptured using the Correctional Service’s robust biometric system.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Alao Babatunde, the Minister directed the Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi, to visit the facility immediately, assess the situation, and conduct a thorough audit to determine the cause of the security breach.

“We are fully in control of the situation. Our personnel are on the ground in Kogi, and I have ordered a comprehensive assessment to get to the root of this incident,” the Minister stated.
