Government Must Prioritize Education, Agriculture For Economic Growth – Atiba University Founder

The founder of Atiba University Oyo (AUO), Dr. James Ojebode, has emphasized the need for the government to prioritize education and agriculture to ensure food security and economic advancement.

Speaking at the university’s inaugural Founder’s Public Lecture, Ojebode highlighted the critical role of training the next generation of farmers and agricultural professionals in driving Nigeria’s development.

To address these needs, he introduced tuition-free programmes in agriculture and education, aiming to attract talented students who might otherwise lack access to higher education.

“Agriculture is central to Nigeria’s economy, and training future agricultural professionals is crucial for food security and economic growth. Likewise, investing in education ensures the development of quality teachers who will shape the nation’s future,” he said.

The event, held at the institution’s auditorium in Oyo town, featured a keynote lecture by Professor Toyin Falola from the University of Texas, Austin.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Professor Salihu Adelabu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Seyi Omo-Ode, alongside academics, management, staff, and students.
