Osimhen Shines As Nigeria Defeats Rwanda 2-0 In World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria took a crucial step in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday night, marking a winning start for new head coach Eric Chelle.

Victor Osimhen, in red-hot form for Galatasaray, netted both goals in the first half to secure the win.

The striker opened the scoring with a composed finish from Ademola Lookman’s pinpoint free-kick before doubling Nigeria’s lead with a stunning chip after winning possession at the halfway line.

The Super Eagles now sit third in Group C, boosted by South Africa’s 2-0 triumph over Lesotho.

Next, Chelle’s squad will take on Zimbabwe on Monday as they continue their push for World Cup qualification.
