The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the National Assembly for swiftly approving President Bola Tinubu’s Proclamation of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, describing it as a patriotic move to restore peace and stability.
In a statement on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, praised lawmakers, especially the opposition caucus, for setting aside partisanship and prioritizing national interest.
Reacting to criticisms from Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, and other opposition figures, the APC dismissed their objections as opportunistic and insincere.
“These opposition figures stood idly by while the crisis escalated. Now, they issue meaningless statements to grab headlines and stir tension,” Morka said.
The ruling party urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s efforts to restore peace, secure national assets, and ensure the full functioning of constitutional governance in Rivers State.
