Tinubu Nominates Five INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners, Seeks Senate Confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the names of five nominees for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Senate for confirmation.

The nominees includes Umar Yusuf Garba (Kano), Saad Umar (Bauchi), Chukwuemeka Ukomba (Anambra), Umar Muhktar (Borno, reappointed)and Johnson Alalibo Siniken (Bayelsa)

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s request during plenary on Tuesday and subsequently referred it to the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters for screening. The committee is expected to report back to the plenary within one week.
