Ondo Governor Deploys Amotekun To Rural Areas After Deadly Herdsmen Attack

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered the immediate deployment of Amotekun Corps operatives to rural communities to curb attacks by armed herdsmen.

The directive follows the brutal killing of farmers at Aba Oyinbo in Akure North Local Government Area on Wednesday.

In response, outraged protesters stormed the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, displaying the corpses of the slain victims.

Earlier this month, herdsmen carried out a deadly reprisal attack on four communities in the same area, leaving many dead.

The protesters, led by Regent of Ademekun Camp, Princess Adelowo Kemisola, accused the police of inaction and blocked the Akure-Owo highway at Ogbese to demand justice.

Ondo Deputy Governor, Olajide Adelami, assured the protesters that Amotekun Corps would be deployed immediately to protect lives and property.

He also announced plans for a permanent security post in the affected communities and pledged greater collaboration among security agencies.
