The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to enhance governance, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria’s health sector.
Announcing the collaboration on his X handle, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Pate, emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Initiative (NHSRI).
Pate acknowledged longstanding gaps in transparency, procurement processes, contract execution, and resource allocation in healthcare. He affirmed that the partnership with ICPC aims to prevent financial leakages, ensure efficient utilization of funds, and strengthen oversight mechanisms for better service delivery.
“This collaboration is not just a policy statement—it is an actionable commitment to accountability and quality healthcare,” Pate stated. “By reinforcing institutional capacity to detect and address financial mismanagement, we are ensuring that every Naira allocated to health reaches the people who need it most.”
The minister reiterated that transparency in healthcare financing is a top priority and stressed that building a resilient health system requires strong governance frameworks and institutional integrity.
