Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has publicly addressed an old diss from a fellow artist who, in a 2017 freestyle, claimed he would “never blow like Blaqbonez.”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Blaqbonez revealed that the artist in question had been signed by Olamide at the time and used that as a reason to look down on him.
“Because you got a deal before me, you added my name to your freestyles, ‘you no go ever blow like Blaqbonez,’ all because Olamide signed you. You thought he was God, abi?”
The rapper reflected on how painful the diss was, especially since he was struggling financially at the time.
“Imagine me broke and hustling, hearing someone I came up with singing about how I’d never make it on stage. Who’s the punchline now?”
Blaqbonez stated that he never responded over the years because he prefers to let “life run its course” rather than engage in public feuds. However, he made it clear that he never forgot the diss and used it as motivation to push his career forward.
“I never said a word all those years. When I really dislike you, your name no go ever come out of my mouth. I’ll just watch you choke on yourself.”
“We were in rap battle groups together for years, but as them sign you, it was time to shit on me. My work ethic and everything—because you saw into the future and knew I was never going to blow up, right?”
The rapper ended his post with a message to his former peer, urging them to reflect on their past actions and how quickly they turned against him after getting signed.
While Blaqbonez did not mention the artist by name, his tweets have sparked speculation among fans about who he was referring to.
