Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a shipment of cocaine hidden inside prayer beads and locally made shoes.
The suspects were apprehended while attempting to smuggle the illicit substances to the Holy Land.
NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, shared images of the seized contraband on X.com on Sunday, revealing the agency’s latest efforts to curb drug trafficking.
“In this holy month, while many are engaged in worship and supplication, some individuals attempted to desecrate the sanctity of the period by concealing cocaine in prayer beads and traditional footwear,” the agency stated.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes, urging the public to remain vigilant against such deceptive smuggling tactics.
