The Nigerian Air Force Base in Ikeja, Lagos, has had its power restored after being disconnected by the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) due to a disputed bill of N4.3 billion.
The restoration comes after a chaotic incident where Air Force personnel invaded the IKEDC headquarters, causing damage and injuring staff.
Although the disputed bill remains unpaid, interventions are underway to settle and offset the debt.
As part of the resolution, prepaid meters were installed at the base on Wednesday, ensuring that the Air Force will only use electricity they pay for.
Sources from IKEDC confirmed that the prepaid meter installation was similar to the Army cantonment template, and that the company will maintain a relationship with the Air Force despite the incident.
The Nigerian Air Force has launched an investigation into the invasion of the IKEDC offices, which is ongoing.
