Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is facing criticism for allegedly downplaying the significance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure projects, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, in his new memoir, Nigeria: Past and Future.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, fired back at Obasanjo, accusing him of hypocrisy and poor leadership during his own time in office.
Olusegun claimed that Obasanjo’s comments would further damage his integrity, especially considering his administration’s failures to address the country’s needs.
Olusegun pointed out that Obasanjo failed to deliver on key infrastructure projects during his eight-year tenure, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which stagnated for 16 years until former President Muhammadu Buhari revived it.
He also criticized Obasanjo’s handling of Nigeria’s power sector, refineries, and the privatization of NITEL.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s economy and improve connectivity along the nation’s coastline.
Olusegun argued that instead of attempting to diminish Tinubu’s achievements, Obasanjo should reflect on his own legacy.
