
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has written to the House of Assembly, informing them of his intention to present the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill.
The letter, dated March 11, 2025, was addressed to Speaker Martins Chike Amaewhule and personally signed by Fubara.
In the letter, Fubara referenced his statewide broadcast on March 2, 2025, where he reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the Supreme Court’s verdict on the state’s political crisis.
He also mentioned a consultative meeting with the Rivers State House of Assembly, which was scheduled for March 10, 2025, but was never held.
Despite the missed meeting, Fubara expressed his desire to present the 2025 budget to the Assembly on March 12, 2025.
The budget presentation is expected to be a significant event, as it outlines the state’s financial plans and priorities for the upcoming year.
Notably, Fubara’s administration has been working to implement the Supreme Court’s verdict, and the budget presentation is seen as a crucial step in this process.
However, the governor’s efforts have been met with criticism from some quarters, including former Governor Nyesom Wike, who described Fubara’s letter to the Assembly as “useless.
