Tinubu Submits Key Appointments For Senate Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has nominated several key individuals for various positions, pending Senate confirmation.

The nominees include:
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Board Member: Professor Melvin D. Ayogu,
Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCOS): Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi, Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)Umar Yusuf Garba (Kano), Saad Umar (Bauchi), Chukwuemeka C. Ibeziako (Anambra) and Mohammed I. Ngoshe (Borno).

Tinubu’s letter to the Senate, dated February 24, 2025, expressed hope for swift confirmation of the appointments.

“In compliance with the provisions of Section 10(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) (Establishment) Act, 2007, I am pleased to present, for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Prof. Melvin D. Ayogu as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the letter read.”

The President cited relevant laws and urged the Senate to act promptly on the nominations.

This move comes after Tinubu recently nominated seven ministers for Senate confirmation.

The Senate is expected to begin the screening process in the coming days.
