The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has reassigned the terrorism case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to a new judge.
This development comes after Justice Binta Nyako recused herself from the case.
According to Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s lawyer, the reassignment was confirmed in a statement on Saturday.
Ejimakor revealed that Kanu’s legal team had written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, seeking intervention in the reassignment process
Kanu has instructed his legal team to express gratitude to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for her swift intervention and to the public for supporting their demands for a new judge.
Kanu remains ready to stand trial, maintaining his innocence.
