
Mabel Dorothy Segun, a celebrated Nigerian novelist and playwright, has died at the age of 95.
Her family announced her passing in a statement, expressing gratitude for her life and accomplishments in literature, broadcasting, and sports.
Segun was born in Ondo Town and educated at CMS Girls’ School Lagos and the University of Ibadan, where she graduated in 1953.
She was a talented athlete, exceling in table tennis, and a renowned author, with her first book, “My Father’s Daughter,” published in 1965.
Her literary works have been widely used in schools worldwide and translated into several languages, including German, Danish, Norwegian, and Greek.
Segun is survived by her son, daughter, and grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her contributions to Nigerian literature and her multifaceted accomplishments.
