Bauchi State Government Unveils Irrigate Nigeria Project To Boost Food Security

The Bauchi State Government has officially launched the Irrigate Nigeria Project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing agriculture in the state.

This project is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and seeks to empower youths and women through all-season agriculture activities.

The project’s primary objective is to unlock Nigeria’s vast arable land through irrigation, providing market-driven support for sustainable growth and development.

According to Governor Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the project will see 30,000 hectares of land harvested annually in Udubo, Gamawa Local Government Area. This, he said, will boost food availability and security through dry season farming and other agricultural activities.

Furthermore, the governor emphasised his administration’s commitment to modernising agriculture in Bauchi State, allocating 50,000 hectares of land in Toro LGA for various agricultural activities.

He noted that the project will increase farming capacity, economic growth, and food security for Nigerian farmers.

The Irrigate Nigeria Project is a public-private partnership, including foreign investors, to ensure its success.

The project’s goal is to unlock Nigeria’s vast arable land through irrigation and provide market-driven support for sustainable growth and development.

The launch of the project was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacheus Adedeji, and the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Infrastructure Engineering, Dr. Dahiru Mohammed.

Also, the project is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s economy and food security, and the government has assured that it will ensure the sustainability of the project to attract more participants across the state.
