Hon. Mojisola Meranda, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, has been in the news lately due to a leadership crisis in the Assembly.
In a press press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja, the state capital, the police commissioner noted that Meranda’s security detail was initially withdrawn for audit purposes, adding that the withdrawal was not done out of an ulterior motive.
Reportedly, that all security aides attached to Meranda, including police officers, were earlier withdrawn.
According to source, the Speaker confirmed that Meranda was now vulnerable.
“All the Speaker’s security aides have been withdrawn. All the security aides attached to the House of Assembly have also been withdrawn,” the source said, lamenting that “the speaker is now vulnerable.”
The spokesperson for Meranda, Ganzallo Victor, confirmed the development, saying, “We don’t know why the authorities have done that, but all the police officers and other security details attached to her have been withdrawn. She’s on her own at the moment.”
Meanwhile, all aides attached to the ousted speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, were restored.
