
Lagos State House of Assembly lawmakers on have categorically rejected Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached speaker, after he attempted to regain his position with a group of security personnel.
The lawmakers, who appeared furious while speaking with journalists at the premises of the House after the invasion of the premises by the former Speaker the lawmakers said the leaders of the All Progressive Congress need to treat them with dignity as they are representatives of their people.
In what appeared like as desperate point to showdown with the leadership of the party, the lawmakers said they were miffed by the audacity of the former speaker to come to the House of Assembly with a retinue of security personnel.
Reportedly, Obasa who was impeached by the Assembly last month, had stormed the House with his supporters while reiterating that he remains the Speaker as against the elected Mojisola Meranda.
Addressing the newsmen after the drama, the lawmakers expressed their disappointment with the development.
According to Hon. Ogundipe Kayode, who spoke on behalf of the lawmakers, they were advised to remain calm but were instead shocked by Obasa’s actions.
The lawmakers emphasized their commitment to their constituencies and the people who elected them, demanding respect and dignity from the APC leadership.
Obasa, who was impeached last month, claims he remains the Speaker, contradicting the Assembly’s election of Mojisola Meranda.
The lawmakers urged Obasa to allow the court proceedings to unfold, rather than taking drastic actions.
