NNPP Dismisses Suspension of Senator Kawu Sumaila And Others

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed the suspension of Senator Kawu Sumaila (NNPP-Kano) and three other federal lawmakers as null and void.

The Kano State chapter of the NNPP announced the suspension on Monday, citing alleged anti-party activities.

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, Dr. Oginni Olaposi, countered that the suspension was aimed at disparaging the party.

Olaposi emphasized that the National Working Committee was not informed of the lawmakers’ alleged anti-party activities.

He further stated that those who suspended the lawmakers are part of the Kwankwasia Movement, whose Memorandum of Understanding with the NNPP ended after the 2023 general elections.

The NNPP clarified that the Kwankwasiya Movement lacks the authority to act or speak on behalf of the party.

The Abia State High Court terminated the MoU on November 1, 2024, and directed INEC to hand over the party’s administration to Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the NNPP’s Board of Trustees Chairman and Founder.

The NNPP urged the public to disregard the suspension announcement, labeling it as false and misleading.

Olaposi also called on the Department of State Security Services to invite those creating unrest for questioning.
