
Nigeria and Belgium are set to strengthen their economic ties, with a focus on enhancing food security.
This development was announced by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun on Tuesday, after a meeting with the Belgian ambassador, Mr. Pieter Leenknegt.
Mr Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, disclosed this in a statement he signed and released in Abuja.
According to the ministry’s director of information, the minister and the Belgian ambassador, Mr Pieter Leenknegt, held a meeting to explore ways to facilitate cooperation in agriculture and food security.
During the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, declining inflation, and increased savings in the federation account.
He also emphasized the government’s support for farmers through sustainable policies to boost agricultural productivity.
The Belgian ambassador expressed his country’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefit.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two countries, with plans to continue exploring opportunities for cooperation.
This move is expected to enhance food security in Nigeria, and it’s part of the government’s efforts to improve the country’s economy.
