LASAA Vows To Ensure Safety, Integrity Of Billboards In Lagos State

Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has distanced itself from the collapse of a giant billboard in Surulere, Lagos State, which caused injuries and damage to properties.

In a statement LASAA said, ‘‘the Agency unequivocally disassociates itself from actions capable of endangering the lives and property of citizens and will continue to ensure that structural integrity is maintained in the deployment of any advertising structure in Lagos as billboards capable of causing deaths or destruction will not be allowed to stand

‘‘LASAA would like to reiterate its unwavering commitment to ensuring the integrity and safety of all advertising structures across Lagos State. We wish to also state for public information that the billboard in Abati Barrack is not registered by the Agency, therefore, it is illegal

‘‘LASAA had consistently made efforts before that incident happened to regulate all advertising structures within and around the Nigeria Military, Police, and the Airforce formations in Lagos, but were not given the required support to regulate advertising structures within their territory.

The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring the structural integrity and safety of all advertising structures in Lagos State.

LASAA revealed that the billboard, owned by Radius Resources Limited, was not registered with the agency and was therefore operating illegally.

The agency had previously sanctioned the company and suspended its operations since October 24, 2024, due to unethical practices.

In response to the incident, LASAA’s Managing Director, Prince Fatiu Akiolu, urged all stakeholders, including outdoor advertising practitioners and military formations, to collaborate with the agency and comply with existing regulations governing billboard installations.

LASAA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of all advertising structures in Lagos State.
