
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in its efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria. Recent operations have resulted in several arrests and seizures.
Reportedly, a 24 year old Thai Woman Ms. Pattaphi Wimonnat was Arrested at Lagos Airport in an attempt to smuggle 43 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, into Nigeria.
Also, NDLEA officers thwarted an attempt to export 68 parcels of Ghanaian Loud, weighing 42.2 kg, to London.
Subsequently, at the Port Harcourt Port Complex, NDLEA officers intercepted 49 cartons containing 49,000 pills of Tamol, a brand of Tramadol 225mg.
Furthermore, two suspects were arrested in Nassarawa State with 517 kg of skunk, while in Niger State, two suspects were caught transporting 62.7 kg of skunk.
These recent successes demonstrate the NDLEA’s commitment to reducing drug trafficking and abuse in Nigeria.
The agency has been intensifying its efforts in recent months, with notable achievements including the arrest of over 14,480 drug offenders and the seizure of 2.4 million kilograms of illicit drugs between January and October 2024.
