A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an interim injunction stopping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its south-south zonal congress in Calabar, Cross River State, or anywhere else in Nigeria.
The court order, issued by Justice G.V. Obomanu, restrains the PDP, its agents, and privies from conducting the congress on February 22nd or any other date pending the determination of the motion on notice.
The case was instituted by Tony Ejiogu, a PDP member from Ward 3 in Etche Local Government Area, and Field Nkoro, former Vice-Chairman, Southeast PDP.
The PDP and Chief Dan Orbih, National Vice-Chairman, Southsouth zone of the PDP, are named as defendants.
The court also ordered the parties to maintain the status quo as of February 20th pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
Additionally, the court granted the claimants’ request to serve the defendants with court processes by substituted means, such as pasting the documents at the PDP’s south-south zonal headquarters or publishing them in a national newspaper.
