The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally allowed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to receive visitors.
This decision comes after mounting pressure from Kanu’s family and legal team, who were previously denied access to him at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.
Kanu’s lead lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, had raised concerns about the denied access, but Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the IPOB leader’s younger brother, confirmed that they were eventually allowed to visit him.
Prince Kanu emphasized the importance of respecting court orders that permit Kanu’s lawyers and family members to visit him twice a week.
He noted that denying access damages Nigeria’s image and urged the Federal Government to ensure the DSS complies with legal directives regarding Kanu’s detention.
Prince Kanu also stated that his brother is not a problem for Nigeria, but rather part of the solution.
