PDP Crisis Deepens: Ortom, Anyanwu Defy Disciplinary Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis deepens as former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu refuse to appear before the disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi.

Ortom claims the panel is illegal and demands an apology, while Anyanwu cites medical reasons for his absence.

The committee had summoned them to answer allegations of anti-party activities, but they argue that the panel lacks jurisdiction.

Ortom’s lawyer, C.T. Mue, asserts that the committee’s actions violate the PDP constitution and the Cybercrime Act.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) is divided over the national secretary position.

National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba announces that the NWC recognizes Sunday Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary, but Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum denies this, saying Ologunagba expressed a personal view.

The Ikimi Committee has deferred its hearing by two weeks, and Damagum emphasizes that the committee can only investigate anti-party activities if there are petitions.

The crisis within the PDP continues to escalate, with no clear resolution in sight.
