Nasir El-Rufai Refuses To Back Down Despite Threats Of Arrest

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has made it clear that he won’t be intimidated into self-imposed exile despite threats of possible arrest.

El-Rufai has been vocal in his criticism of President Tinubu’s administration and the APC, which some attribute to his failed ministerial nomination.

In response to rumors of his potential arrest, El-Rufai stated that such threats have been circulating since July 2024.

He emphasized that these attempts to intimidate him won’t work, saying, “They have sent similar messages of intimidation and threats through many of my friends, family, and political associates because they want me to go on self-imposed exile. I will not.”

El-Rufai also expressed his commitment to speaking out, putting his personal plans on hold to stay in Nigeria. “Silence is no longer golden. Inaction has never been an option,” he declared.

Despite facing potential risks, El-Rufai remains resolute, drawing from his past experiences of being arrested and detained for expressing his views.

Currently in Egypt, El-Rufai plans to return to Nigeria for the launch of former President Ibrahim Babangida’s memoirs on February 20, 2025.

His message to those who might be uneasy about his return is clear: “We depend on no one but Allah. We fear no mortal but Almighty Allah. We always hope for the best but plan for the worst.”
