FG Opens Application For Accountant-General, Permanent Secretary Positions

The Federal Government has commenced the selection process for a new Accountant-General of the Federation and permanent secretaries to fill vacancies in Oyo State and the North-West geopolitical zone.

This process, approved by President Bola Tinubu, aims to ensure that only competent and credible individuals are appointed.

The selection process will begin with a written examination for eligible civil servants, administered by a top federal government security agency.

The questions will be set and marked by serving and retired permanent secretaries, with observers from civil society organizations, the private sector, and professional bodies overseeing the exercise.

To be eligible, candidates must be serving Grade Level 17 officers in the mainstream of the Federal Civil Service, have held their current positions for at least two years, and have expressed interest in participating.

Also, they will undergo a series of screenings, including verification by their respective permanent secretaries and the Accountant-General, as well as asset declaration and anti-corruption clearance.

The final decision will be made by President Tinubu based on the candidates’ overall performance.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, emphasized that the process reflects the government’s commitment to meritocracy, good governance, and professionalism in public service.
