Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has denied claims that he didn’t support President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
El-Rufai, a key APC chieftain, stated that he has moved on from such allegations and doesn’t expect anything in return for his political actions.
His response came after an X user, Yusuf Tukur, claimed that Tinubu’s team had sought El-Rufai’s support before the election but later accused him of not backing the president.
The former Kaduna State Governor dismissed these claims, saying that the unfolding events are simply a reflection of human nature.
In a separate statement, El-Rufai clarified his stance on governance, saying he doesn’t subscribe to political pretence and likening some politicians to actors.
“Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not for some of us,” he remarked.
It’s worth noting that El-Rufai has been critical of the Tinubu administration, recently accusing the president of nepotism and calling for a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the APC in 2027.
