The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested Adam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kogi State, over alleged corruption.
Yusuf, who had been evading authorities, was apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja, and is now set to face prosecution.
The ICPC revealed that its operatives uncovered a sophisticated scheme allegedly orchestrated by retired Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, alongside former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum.
The scheme reportedly involved the illegal diversion of over N3 billion in public funds through 92 fictitious companies, none of which were registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Investigation and Forfeiture
Further investigations led authorities to trace the laundered funds to companies such as Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties, among others. The illicit proceeds were allegedly used to acquire over 18 properties, including multiple filling stations.
Until now, four of these properties have been forfeited to the government, while legal proceedings are ongoing regarding the rest.
