After series of meetings, the Lagos State House of Assembly and the Governor’s Advisory Council(GAC) have resolved and agreed on Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as the Speaker.
The decision was reached after a meeting between the two parties, where the idea of appointing a new Speaker from Lagos West was proposed, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
However, members of the Assembly from Lagos West strongly opposed this suggestion, firmly insisting on retaining Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as Speaker.
It was revealed that GAC members, who had sought a soft landing for Obasa, were taken aback when Lagos West representatives and other Assembly members rejected any possibility of his return.
The lawmakers also dismissed the idea of selecting a new Speaker, emphasizing their confidence in Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda’s leadership.
Following a closed-door meeting, Lagos West members reaffirmed their support for her continuation as Speaker.
A source within the Assembly confirmed to Lagos Gist Media that ”We are satisfied with our Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda. That was our position in the meeting, and it remains unchanged.”
