Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State, CN AI Ahmad, has launched the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) school-based sensitization program, using sports as a platform to reach young minds on Thursday, 16th January 2025.
The program took off at FAAN Secondary School in Kano where he sensitized students and staff on the dangers of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of “CATCHING THEM YOUNG.
For an engaging and interactive event, the game of Tug of War was organized for both male and female students.
Afterwards, the commander visited Army Day Girls Secondary School, where he delivered the same sensitization lecture, followed by the game of basketball among the students.
Rochas Foundation Schools was the final stop, as another sensitization program was held, culminating in a football match.
To test the their’ knowledge and retention memory, quiz competitions were conducted in each school as the winners received prizes sponsored by Gongoni Company Limited, the program’s sponsor.
The Program is part of the State Commander’s efforts to eradicate drug abuse among young people, using sports and education.
The commander noted that partnering schools and engaging students in interactive activities is the initiative through which the NDLEA aims to build a stronger, healthier Society..
