It has been officially announced by The Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) that Nigeria is the host nation for the 13th edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship which is scheduled to take place from July 22 to July 28, 2025, and will bring together Armwrestling athletes and enthusiasts from across the continent.
The decision during the unveiling on January 15 at a press conference in Accra, Ghana, represents a huge milestone for Nigeria as it prepares to host this event for the first time.
Over 20 countries are expected to participate as the championship will feature fierce competition in various weight categories for both women and men.
Charles Osei Asibey, the AFA President enumerated significance of the championship, stating; This Championship will not only showcase the best of African Armwrestling talent but also serve as a unifying factor for the continent of Africa.
Nigeria put in a compelling , and so we are confident that the country will deliver an exceptional championship.
Thousands of spectators, athletes, and officials are expected to be drawn to this event as it will contribute to Nigeria’s economy by boosting tourism, hospitality, and related industries.
Preparations to ensure the championship meets international standards is already underway
