NPFL Hammer Falls on Nasarawa United; Deducted 3 Points, Fined N3m

Nasarawa United FC have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules during their Matchday 18 fixture against Rivers United on December 22, 2024.

The Lafia based breached NPFL 2025 rules following encroachment onto the field of play in the course of the match, even as It was also established that they failed to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters which led to a brawl and assault on the away team.

The centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim was also assaulted by the club’s supporters.
With all these glaring evidences, the NPFL ruled that Nasarawa will pay a fine of N3 million, being N1 million each for encroachment on to the pitch, failure to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters and failure to provide adequate and effective security.

They also ruled that three points and three goals shall be deducted from Nasarawa’s accrued points and goals for the assault on the centre referee as well. Even as Nasarawa United have been ordered to identify and prosecute the individual(s) involved in assaulting the away team with details of their progress submitted to NPFL within seven working days of this notice.

Their home turf which is the Lafia City Stadium shall remain indefinitely closed to fans until security is enhanced and the state box is barricaded with the club directed to give feedback on compliance to the NPFL security department.
